The Cambridge Satchel Company will open two new stores before Christmas, including its first outlet in Brighton.
The leather accessories business will open its second store in Cambridge, where it already trades from a unit at 17 Rose Crescent, in mid-December. The new two-floor 1,700 sq ft store is located at 2 St Mary’s Passage.
To coincide with the opening, it will launch a new range featuring Cambridge University’s blue stripe and emblem.
Cambridge Satchel is also set to open its first outlet at 6 Bond Street in Brighton in early December. The store will sell samples, one-off exclusives and previous season’s styles at a markdown of between 20% and 50%.
Exact dates for the openings are yet to be confirmed due to ongoing building work.
“Cambridge is our home and we felt we needed a larger space to showcase our extended range of products,” explained Julie Deane, who co-founded the firm in 2008 and is chief executive.
“We hope our customers will enjoy the opportunity to pick up one-offs at a good price in our Brighton store just as they have done at previous sample sales, which have been incredibly popular.”
Once the new stores open, Cambridge Satchel will have six in total – two in Cambridge, two in London, one in Glasgow and the outlet in Brighton. It has an annual turnover of more than £10m.
