CARE International asks retailers to take a hike

Overseas development agency CARE International is calling on the industry to take part in its annual team-building event in Snowdonia in Wales to help raise money to fight poverty across the world.

Drapers is the media partner for the one-day event, which takes place on September 16 and is sponsored by software company Prima Solutions.

Open to retailers, manufacturers and wholesalers across the industry, each four-strong corporate team will hike, bike and canoe their way around Snowdonia National Park to raise money for the agency's overseas work. This includes providing safe drinking water and education, micro-credit schemes for small businesses, and emergency aid, helping 48 million people every year in 70 countries.

Last year's challenge raised more than £50,000 for CARE International, with firms such as distributor Morrison McConnell (pictured), Hugo Boss, USA Pro and Church's Shoes taking part.

"Our goal this year is to see greater participation from clothing, footwear and accessories companies, helping us to beat last year's total," said Prima managing director John Norman.

Registration is now open and places are limited. For more details, visit www.carechallenge.org.uk.
