Cath Kidston hires to support Latin America push

Cath Kidston has appointed Michael Engelhaupt, former head of franchise international at US sportswear retailer Under Armour, to lead its expansion into Latin America.

The brand decided to expand in the region after receiving requests from various markets, particularly Mexico and Chile, The Times reported.

It will focus on those countries first, opening stores and concessions, but eventually hopes to expand across Latin America, including Brazil.

Chief executive Kenny Wilson said online sales from customers in Latin America show “people are already buying our products”.

Engelhaupt will be based in Panama City and work with potential franchise partners.

He joined Under Armour in March 2014. Before that, he worked at Adidas’s Latin American division for around 10 years, starting as retail marketing assistant in 2004 and working his way up to franchise senior manager.
