Channel 4 to broadcast McQueen and Blow documentary

Channel 4 is to broadcast a documentary on the late British fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen and stylist Isabella Blow.

The 90 minute documentary is due to be transmitted in February next year, which would be a year on from McQueen’s suicide. It has the working title of ‘Alexander McQueen and will be produced by Blast Films.

The documentary will look at moments from McQueen’s career including putting robots on the catwalk and creating the ‘bumster’ trousers. Blow, who herself committed suicide in 2007, notably bought all of McQueen’s first collection after his graduation and the TV programme will also look at how the pair interacted.

Channel 4 head of documentaries Hamish Mykura said: “The film will be a sensitive and beautifully shot portrait of Alexander McQueen. This is a unique opportunity to give insight into a British designer who changed the world of fashion and to examine the relationships that shaped his extraordinary life.”
