Charles Tyrwhitt CEO exits

Charles Tyrwhitt chief executive David Boynton has left the business after spending just seven months in the role.

He joined the menswear retailer in June last year as chief marketing officer and CEO-designate after a decade at beauty brand L’Occitane, where he was based in New York as its CEO of the Western Hemisphere markets.

Boynton, who is joining beauty retailer The Body Shop as its new chief executive, officially took up the leadership role at Charles Tyrwhitt in February.

The menswear retailer is now seeking a new chief executive.

Boynton will lead Charles Tyrwhitt until 1 December, taking up his new position at The Body Shop on 4 December.

After this date, Charles Tyrwhitt’s board will report to founder and chairman Nick Wheeler until a CEO is in place.

Wheeler said that “it is very much business as usual”, adding: ”We are very sad to see David leave Charles Tyrwhitt but his work with the leadership team has already put many things in place that mean we are in excellent shape for the future, these include a new focus on product innovation, a strategic focus on talent, rethinking our approach to the opening of new stores and an acceleration into new international markets.”
