Chester Barrie in wholesale move

Tailoring brand Chester Barrie is moving back into the wholesale arena with a full menswear collection for autumn 09, after trading solely through its Savile Row shop since 2006.

Brand director Will Palmer said: “We believe that reintroducing wholesale is integral to moving the business forward.”

Chester Barrie was bought in 2007 by private label contract clothing company Prominent Europe, and has since brought in a new management team.

Will Palmer, former sales director at knitwear brand John Smedley and managing director of hosiery label Wolford UK, is the new brand director, and Simon Gash, ex-buying and merchandise director at menswear chain Moss Bros, has joined to sell the wholesale line.

Taking inspiration from icons of the 1960s such as Sean Connery and Steve McQueen, the autumn 09 collection features a new sharp, tailored block with soft shoulders and a longer, fitted silhouette, as well as a shirt and tie range.

Men’s designer Nick Tentis has been brought in to design the range.

Prices start at £260 for a two-piece suit and £35 for a shirt. For more details call 07896 119719 or visit www.chesterbarrie.co.uk.
