Christmas sales soar at Ted Baker

Ted Baker’s retail sales jumped 17.9% year on year in the eight weeks to 7 January.

Online sales were up 35% for the period compared to last year and the average retailer square footage for the firm increased by 8.5% to 386,252 sq ft.

During the eight weeks the retailer opened further concessions in China and its first store in Bahrain, as well as another shop in Indonesia with its licence partner.

Ray Kelvin, founder and chief executive of Ted Baker, said: “Ted Baker has continued to perform well over the Christmas period against a tough trading backdrop.

This result reflects the appeal of the brand and the quality of our collections as well as the talent and commitment of our team.”
