Christmas strike to hit Post Office deliveries

The trade union representing Post Office staff has announced five days of strike action during the week leading up to Christmas.

The action will start on Monday 19 December and is due to end on Christmas Eve. It will affect 300 branches across the country.

The Communication Workers Union said the dispute revolved around planned changes to workers’ pensions, as well as branch closures or relocations.

The Post Office said the changes were part of a necessary “modernisation programme”.
