Christmas trading up at Jigsaw

Jigsaw Group has posted a sales rise during the festive period, as it continues to shun the Black Friday discounting event.

Sales for the five weeks to 31 December grew by 7% year on year.

Online sales surged by 34%, while Jigsaw’s luxury concept store The Shop at Bluebird saw sales increase by 16%.

Regionally, its Australia business was highlighted as a standout performer – sales were up 61%.

CEO Peter Ruis said: “Jigsaw continues to innovate at this time of year with a compelling offer around fashion and gifting.”

He added that Jigsaw’s collaboration with chocolatier Rococo on a range of gifts boosted its performance.

Jigsaw operates more than 80 UK stores, including 30 in London, and has concessions in several branches at department stores John Lewis, Fenwicks and Bentalls.

It also operates through international concessions at Arnotts Dublin, De Bijenkorf in the Netherlands, David Jones Australia, Robinsons in Singapore, Edgars Johannesburg and Voisins in Jersey.
