Clarks will open a new 4,960 sq ft store at The Lowry Outlet in Manchester on December 12.
“The Lowry Outlet was a logical place to open a store, particularly now that the centre will be greatly increasing its regional draw beyond the five million current visitors each year,” said Julie Lambden, head of Clarks Outlet.
The Lowry Outlet is located in the fast-growing MediaCityUK, which currently has a population of 25,000 office workers and is home to the BBC, ITV Granada and a Salford University campus. It also serves the existing 300,000 population of Salford.
Peel Outlets, which owns The Lowry Outlet, is aiming to create a destination that incorporates discounted shopping with other leisure facilities.
Jason Pullen, managing director at Peel Outlets, said: “We are creating a destination that people will want to travel to, as proven with our Gloucester Quays Outlet which is experiencing 103% growth in footfall. The Lowry Outlet, alongside MediaCityUK is seeing regional reach grow and footfall echo this.”
Peel Outlets has named Rachel Scott as its new leasing manager, responsible for leasing across all Peel Outlets including Gloucester Quays and The Lowry Outlet. Scott was formerly leasing manager at Realm and asset manager at Grosvenor.
