Coast to launch second flagship

Occasionwear retailer Coast is to open its second flagship store this Friday (September 28) in Manchester’s Trafford Centre.

The opening kick starts the regional roll-out of Coast’s new flagship store concept, which was launched with a new store on London’s Oxford Street in July.  The new stores represent a £2m investment by parent group Aurora Fashions.

The 3,540 store, which is more than three times the size of the previous Coast store in the Trafford Centre, will feature ranges such as the Bridal collection, vintage pieces and Coast by Appointment, the brand’s bespoke service proposition. Around a quarter of the store has been dedicated to fitting rooms.

The new store is part of the retailer’s strategy of opening showcase stores in cities across the UK with the aim of capturing a larger share of the occasionwear market.

According to research commissioned by Coast 86% of occasionwear shoppers buy a new outfit to wear to an occasion, spending an average of £100 on a dress.

Managing director Margaret McDonald said: “Following our success on Oxford Street, Manchester was the obvious location to launch the regional roll-out of our new concept store given its heritage of dominating retail in the North West.”

She added: “Despite facing ongoing financial pressures, our customers are determined to continue looking great for a special occasion. We’re proud to be responding to this demand with a unique store environment and service experience that turns shopping into an occasion in itself.”
