Coggles' buying director Adam Jagger leaves for Topman

Coggles’ buying director Adam Jagger is leaving the business after two years to join Topman as buying manager.

It is thought that Jagger’s departure comes as part of a restructure within the business, although nothing has been confirmed.

Jagger has been in his current role for just two years, but he started his career at the indie in 1995 aged 15, before being offered a full-time role as store manager of the York branch in 2000.

He left in 2008 to join Asos as buyer for premium menswear, returning in 2011 to replace Mark Bage overseeing both men’s and womenswear.

Bage, who is now chief executive and creative director, said Jagger’s ascent through the business “was a great achievement”.

“That he has secured a senior buying position at Topman is a reflection on his ability as a buyer and also the positive reputation of Coggles,” he added.

Bage and his buying team are taking on the reins on an interim basis.

Coggles is currently seeking £4m of investment to aid expansion, on the back of £3m that it secured from Pentland in January 2011.

  • You can always rely on Bage putting a positive slant on things and turning it in to a bit of PR for himself! don't worry Mark the boys form Pentland will soon lay claim to your empire and swallow it in to the mother ship in Bury...

  • Ridiculously inflated job titles/unwarranted sense of self importance par for the course at Coggles.

  • Coggles online has the same traffic as Libertys, I think they also have a buying director!

  • The idea that you would compare Coggles to Liberty as justification for you point is laughable.

Same traffic? maybe. Same amount of products? No chance in hell.

  • Comparing a loss making web and store to a loss making dept store, great argument for the defence.

Liberty I'm sure has a buying director as they are a department store on Regent st in London, unlike Coggles that only has an office in London and a little shop in York
