Cold snap boosts knitwear sales at John Lewis

Fashion sales at John Lewis were up 1.8% in the week to March 17, bolstered by own-brand cashmere which grew 38% year on year, as customers stocked up due to the cold weather.

Total sales for the week were up 1.4% on the same period last year, with the end of the week seeing parts of the country impacted once again by snow.

This week, John Lewis opened its 50th store at the new £600m White City, Westfield redevelopment, which has been described as an immersive “curated shopping experience” with two restaurants, a spa and a styling studio.
