Comeback for Boxfresh duo

The founding design team behind Boxfresh are to collaborate with the young fashion brand on a new collection.

Su and Olaf Parker were Boxfresh’s designers when the brand was founded in 1989. They later went on to found menswear brand Burro.

The pair will create a 20-piece menswear capsule collection for autumn 09 under the name Burro Vs Boxfresh. The range will combine traditional menswear styles and tailoring techniques with streetwear influences.

Su Parker said: “We have followed the brand’s development with great interest. We admire the changes that the Boxfresh team are making and are delighted to have been
asked to work with the brand again.”

The Burro Vs Boxfresh collection, which will celebrate 20 years of Boxfresh, will be priced from £20 to £60. Su and Olaf Parker left Boxfresh in 1994. It is now owned by brand house Pentland Brands.

Separately, Boxfresh has confirmed that it has axed womenswear to focus on menswear and footwear, and has scaled back its retail business to focus on building its wholesale operation. It closed its London Covent Garden store in September.

For autumn 09, the Boxfresh mainline will focus on a less colourful and more commercial aesthetic. Its Ltd sub-brand has been dropped.
