Chanel pre-spring 13 – An eighteenth century cruise

Mr Lagerfeld kicked off the new season (pre-spring 13) with his Cruise collection this week, bridging the gap between his autumn 12 range and upcoming spring 13 offering.

King Karl is known for putting on a show and he certainly didn’t disappoint this season, as he took over a secret garden at the historic Tuileries Palace for a show that consisted of 71, yes you read that correctly, 71 looks.

It was a hip historical trip, with pre-revolutionary powder puff girls gliding along the catwalk in sugary ice cream shades, full of frilled corsets, bustled bums, exaggerated panniers and lace-lashed hips straight from the eighteenth century, modernised with chambray and denim, cropped capri pants and stacked flatform trainers.

It was Marie Antoinette meets Alice Dellal. Let us know what you think and take a look at our feature about the rise of the pre-collections here.
