My fellow news reporter Victoria Gallagher and I are off to Manchester to visit some of our readers in the north of the country.
This isn’t the first time Drapers has gone out into the regions to meet some of our non-London based readers but it is definitely something we want to do more of.
Talking to those brands and retailers based across the length and breadth of the UK every week, one thing that becomes apparent is just how much of an anomaly London is when compared to the rest of the UK.
While much of the capital have barely felt the recession, other parts of the country are struggling. Yet across the UK, innovative retailers and designers are coming up with ways to beat the gloom and get shoppers back on the high street.
And what better way is there for us to understand what you are doing than to get out and meet our readers. This is the first of what we hope will be many regional Drapers events where you can tell us what the retail climate is really like for you.
If you have a suggestion about where we could go next for another regional event, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
