London Fashion Week: Day 5’s not so mellow yellow

Drapers fashion director Ian Wright on LFW’s final sunny flourish

Despite the frankly shocking weather that has greeted the world’s buyers and press, on the final day of London Fashion Week designers took sunny outlook and presented bright yellow as one of the day’s key colours.

At Adidas by Stella McCartney, the Brit clearly had the rainy days on her mind with her modern hooded technical nylon jacket, while in contrast Tata-Naka’s scalloped full circle, cap sleeve textured dress has a nostalgic charm with its primary blocked colours. Thomas Tait trimmed a simple white zip-through jacket with a poppy collar (OK, so this one may be a little on the green side by bear with me), teaming it with matching shorts, before Ashley Williams sent out a Stetson-meets-sunhat in a vibrant yellow as part of his Fashion East collection.

Meadham Kirchhoff’s sunny knee-high socks were fitting with the duo’s naughty convent school girl looks before Lucas Nascimento sent out a sharp and sheer look that featured a see-through ankle length skirt with matching yellow knickers. A not so mellow yellow way to end LFW – bring on Milan.
