London Textile Fair: a preview

As trade show season is in full swing, today is the first day of the London Textile Fair, one of London’s leading textile exhibitions.

The event will be held in the impressive 20,000 sq. ft Business Design Centre in Islington for the first time.

For me, this is a glimpse into future trends, working out what knits, denims and jerseys we’ll all be buying come autumn 13 – yes, next autumn!

I’m particularly excited about discovering unusual textiles and innovative technologies, such as Ploughboy Organics, who will premier its new discovery at the show (turning the tobacco plant into a resource for creating dyes and fibres).

For more on that, check out my report of the show in the July 28 issue of the magazine. All the textile fans should also follow the Drapers twitter (@drapers) for all my tweets live from the event.
