Milan Fashion Week: Look of Day 2

Drapers fashion director Ian Wright decides, well, it has to be Prada, right?

Day two of Milan Fashion Week and despite Max Mara, Fendi et al, who should dominate but, che sorpressa, Prada.

If you’ve had a look at all the reviews of the show online you’ll think there’s been some sort of second coming only a few hundred miles north of where it should be. While I am sometimes known to wax hyperbolic, this all does seem a little OTT, but nonetheless, this was a strong collection from the hand of Miuccia Prada and look xx was the best of the bunch, offering buyers and shoppers alike something for the rails that is at once very Prada in its oddness but also something eminently saleable.

The dark coat is a simple collared shape but the embellishment is dainty, contrasting well with the chunky buttons and textile. Beneath a simple green dress with what would have been a suggestive cutout chest hole but for the sporty striped panel. The patent black sections made it evening but not try hard. The grown up bag is a great counterpoint to the school gym socks and give just the sort of offness on which Mrs Prada has built her empire.
