Confusion is mounting over the role of Versace chief executive Giancarlo Di Risio after the Versace family issued a statement denying he had tendered his resignation.
Yesterday reports emerged that Di Risio would resign from Versace as early as today, citing differences in opinion over future strategy between Di Risio and the Versace family, who own 100% of the luxury brand..
However the Versace family issued a statement today denying the professional relationship between the luxury brand house and its chief executive had been terminated.
External consultants Bain & Co have been advising Versace on how best to trade the business during the economic downturn. A three-year strategic plan has been drawn up which, will be evaluated and actioned over the coming days by the board of directors. This is believed to have sparked rumours of Di Risio’s resignation.
In the statement the Versace family confirmed their full support ”towards the growth and the consolidation of the company and its activities”.
