Fashion sales at John Lewis jumped 7.7% last week as shoppers bought into warmer product categories.
Total sales at the department store were up 8.5% to £90.6m for the week to 15 October.
Clothing sales were boosted by cooler weather items, which were up 12% and womenswear, which was up 16.6%.
Paula Nickolds, commercial director at John Lewis, said: “As ongoing cooler weather meant customers are firmly in the autumn buying mode, sales at John Lewis increased. Customers reacted to the drop in temperature by purchasing items of clothing to wrap up warm in.”
