Cornish retailer Seasalt to expand in Kent

Seasalt is to open in a former Viyella store in Sevenoaks and in Tunbridge Wells in October.

The Cornish womenswear retailer will open in Sevenoaks at the start of October at the unit that was vacated by Viyella after its parent Austin Reed Group ceased trading in June.

Seasalt will open in nearby Tunbridge Wells at the end of October.

In May, chief executive Neil Chadwick told Drapers Seasalt plans to have around 39 stores by the end of the year.

The family-owned business, which won Womenswear Brand of the Year at the 2013 Drapers Awards, posted a 26% increase in profits to £2.7m for the year to January 31 2015. Sales for the year were up 32% to £28.2m.

Seasalt has 400 wholesale accounts in the UK and around 150 internationally.

Earlier this month, Drapers reported White Stuff and Jones Bootmaker are among the retailers that have agreed deals on former Austin Reed Group stores.
