Cos, & Other Stories and Anthropologie to debut in Leeds

Cos, & Other Stories and Anthropologie have signed deals to open at the £165m Victoria Gate development in Leeds next year, Drapers can exclusively reveal.

The 381,042 sq ft centre will be anchored by a flagship John Lewis store and comprises a two-street covered arcade next to the Victoria Quarter in the city centre.

Cos, which is owned by H&M, will open a 6,403 sq ft store, split across the ground and first floor. It will be the brand’s first standalone store in the north of England.

Also making its debut in Leeds will be fellow H&M fascia & Other Stories, with a 7,922 sq ft store on the ground floor and first floor.

The third new retailer to sign up to the scheme is US chain Anthropologie, which will open a 8,697 sq ft store as its flagship for the north of England on the ground and first floor.

Developer Hammerson has already announced that Maje and The White Company will open at the centre next year.

Robin Dobson, director of retail development at Hammerson, said: “Victoria Gate provides the perfect opportunity for aspirational retailers to step outside of London and launch their brands in Leeds.”

Construction work for the first phase started in April 2014 and the centre is expected to open in autumn 2016.
