Covent Garden teams up with Blippar for augmented reality shopping

Covent Garden has transformed its shopping area into an augmented reality retail district for Christmas 2016.

A total of 140 stores and restaurants are taking part across 1 million sq ft in the Covent Garden area.

Features include augmented reality fashion and beauty gift guides, a game where shoppers can make a digital reindeer fly and a “blippable” Christmas tree that unlocks special offers.

The augmented reality retail market will be worth an estimated $90bn (£72bn) by 2020.
