Crocs appoints chief executive

Footwear business Crocs has appointed board member Gregg Ribatt as chief executive as it looks to boost sales.

Ribatt, a member of the Crocs board since January 2014, will join the company full-time next month from Spanx, where he is currently interim chief executive.

He was previously president and chief executive of Collective Brands’ Performance and Lifestyle Group which includes the brands Saucony, Sperry Top-Sider and Keds, as well as president and chief executive at Stuart Weitzman.

Ribatt succeeds Andrew Rees who has served as Crocs’ interim chief executive since he joined the company as its new president in June. Crocs’ former chief executive, John McCarvel retired from his position on April 30. Rees will continue in his role as president and will report to Ribatt.

Thomas J Smach, Crocs chairman of the board, said: “Since Gregg joined our board of directors in January 2014, he has contributed to the Board’s efforts to conceptualise the Crocs of the future. We believe the transformation of Crocs will accelerate under his leadership.”
