Cruz sisters design handbag for Loewe

Volver actress Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica are designing accessories for luxury label Loewe.

The Cruz bag, which will hit stores November 1, was created in collaboration with Loewe’s departing creative director, Stuart Vevers.

The cross body bag will be available in a variety of colours. The Cruz collection will also include coin purses and large zip wallets.

This is not the first time the pair have dabbled in fashion.

Penélope Cruz, who signed a three-year deal to front the Madrid-based house starting with spring 2013, has already designed a capsule collection with her sister for high-street retailer Mango in 2007.

The siblings also teamed up to create a diffusion line for lingerie label Agent Provocateur last October.

Vevers, who has been at Loewe since 2008, is leaving the house to become executive creative director of New York-based handbag and accessories maker Coach.
