Scottish textile manufacturer Moorbrook Textiles has signed a £600,000 deal with luxury heritage retailer Daks as it launches an apprentice employment programme.
The manufacturer, which produces woven products at its factories in Ayr and Peebles in Scotland, has signed a licensing agreement with Daks to supply the retailer with custom made scarves under the Daks label for the next three years.
As a result of the deal, worth £600,000, Moorbrook will expand its workforce with six new full-time members of staff at its Peebles site. The manufacturer will also launch an apprentice employment programme, taking on four modern apprentices at both sites.
Moorbrook Textiles managing director Ian Laird said: “Being associated with one of the UK’s major fashion companies that installs values of quality, reliability and innovation is a huge compliment.
“Our growth over the past year has been significant and we are thrilled to have the capacity to bring more people into the Moorbrook family. Our first apprentice has started at our Ayr site and we’re excited about providing the opportunity to nurture the talents of young people in Scotland who want to develop skills within the textiles manufacturing industry.”
