The first biannual men’s fashion week in New York will take place on July 13-16, 2015, avoiding a clash with London Collections: Men and Pitti Uomo, which traditionally take place in June.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) confirmed the dates for New York Fashion Week: Men’s in a statement, allaying fears that buyers and attendees would have to choose between the event and others on the international fashion calendar. Dates for the winter season are currently unconfirmed.
The series of runway shows, presentations and special events will run alongside the trade show Project at Skylight Clarkson Square in SoHo, Manhattan.
Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein Collection, Michael Kors, Public School, Todd Snyder, Michael Bastian and Ovadia & Sons are among the confirmed names, with more to follow.
On the decision to launch the event, chief executive of the CFDA, Steven Kolb, said: “It gives the designers a business platform to show during their market dates and is an opportunity to demonstrate the collective talent of an important segment of our industry.”
Etail giant Amazon has been confirmed as the main sponsor and plans to use the showcase to promote its menswear sales.
