De Gruchy recruits new buyer

Jersey department store De Gruchy has appointed Alison Pitcairn as women’s fashion and lingerie buyer.
Pitcairn joins from Scottish department store Barbours of Dumfries, where she had worked for 18 years as a buyer.

She will take responsibility for womenswear, lingerie and swimwear at De Gruchy.

Neville Moore, managing director of Ulster Stores, which acquired De Gruchy in 2006, said: “I am delighted that Alison has joined our buying team. She is very well respected in the trade with a wealth of experience.” Ulster Stores is in the process of a £4 million revamp programme, which will see it update its Clare’s store in Llandudno, north Wales, and its Moores of Coleraine and The White House in Portrush stores in Northern Ireland.
It recently completed a refit of De Gruchy’s menswear department, introducing concessionaire Pierretoni, which has brought in Hugo Boss, Polo Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger. The womenswear floor is next in line for an overhaul.
