Exclusive: Debenhams appoints new womenswear director

Debenhams has appointed BHS International’s brand director, Sara Bradley, as its new womenswear director, Drapers can reveal.

Bradley will join the department store chain on 13 November and will report into CEO Sergio Bucher.

Bradley has worked at BHS International since August and was previously womenswear trading director at BHS for three years.

She was head of buying at Marks & Spencer from 2011 to 2013, and her CV includes stints at Sainsbury’s, George at Asda and Arcadia Group, where she was buying director from 1990 until 2002.

In September Debenhams announced it was creating three new business units: fashion and home; beauty and beauty services; and food and events.

The retailer is still recruiting for a new executive committee member responsible for fashion and home. Bucher is overseeing this division in the interim.

Bradley said: “I’m really excited to be joining Debenhams because it’s a great British brand with a strong heritage and I believe this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the team at a time of change with the Debenhams Redesigned strategy.”
