Debenhams boss Michael Sharp given 32% pay rise

Debenhams chief executive Michael Sharp has been awarded a 32% pay increase for 2014 pay despite the department store chain’s continuing struggles.

A three-year incentive plan boosted his total package to £998,734 in the 12 months to August 31, up from £754,396.

Sharp received no cash bonus because he failed to achieve many of his targets, according to The Guardian.

He received only 22% of the maximum payout under the three-year incentive deal.
