Debenhams extends supplier terms

Debenhams is understood to have extended its supplier payment terms to 96 days.

Debenhams has lengthened its payment period from 90 days to 96 days amidst difficult trading conditions according to The Sunday Times.

The newspaper said that suppliers were bearing the brunt of worsening conditions on the high street and said that Debenhams was also asking suppliers for larger discounts on goods.

Debenhams kicked off its summer Sale last week.

  • I would love to have the same terms as Debenhams get! Its the indies that should be receiving longer trading terms not the big bad high street stores....!

  • I am sure that many business supplying the large stores are owner managed and therefore likely to have to put their own assets on the line to secure funding from banks.

Why should smaller businesses be forced into taking more risk to make life easier for the large chains.

Playground bullying is frowned upon, why should we put up with larger companies pushing smaller ones around.
