Debenhams plans new store at Leicester’s Fosse Park

Debenhams intends to open a new store at Fosse Park in Leicester, the department store has said.

It plans to open in one of the main units at the planned £150m extension to the site at the Castle Acres development.

However permission for the extension has yet to be granted as planners are concerned that it may drive shoppers out of Leicester city centre.

Debenhams already operates a site in the city centre.

Debenhams’ director of property Robert Hadfield has written to council planners that the new store would not be a threat to the one it already operates and confirmed the company had agreed main terms of a deal, the Leicester Mercury reported.
