Debenhams promotes Swann to new role

Debenhams has promoted director of information systems Peter Swann to the new role of operations director.

Swann, who joined the business 11 months ago from WHSmiths, will take on responsibility for logistics and imports, on top of his current IT role.

Swann will join the executive committee, led by chief executive Michael Sharp, sitting alongside chief financial officer Simon Herrick, group trading director Suzanne Harlow, retail director Mike Goring, marketing director Richard Crisotfoli and HR director Nikki Zamblera.

Sharp said: “As we continue to evolve our business into a true multi-channel international organisation, achieving operational excellence has become increasingly important.  I am therefore delighted that Peter has agreed to take on the new role of operations director.

“Peter has made a huge impact on the organisation since joining us 11 months ago and I am very confident that in this new position he will continue to do so. “

Prior to WHSmith, where he was for eight years, Swann was at Marks & Spencer for 10 years with his most recent role being head of corporate IT and chief systems architect.

The move comes as the business is in the process of restructuring its international team “as we strive to become a truly international business”.
