Debenhams slashes prices by £250m for Black Friday

Debenhams will cut prices by a total of £250m today as it goes big on Black Friday promotions.

The department store is predicting sales will be 10 times that of a regular Friday and online sales will soar by 600%.

Discounts include 50% off all men’s formal shirts, all women’s designer knitwear and jeans. Designer brands including Hugo Boss, Yves Saint Laurent, Paco Rabanne, Valentino and Victor & Rolfe will also be reduced.

The Sale went live at 3am this morning and stores will be open from 8am until 10pm. Debenhams has drafted in 8,000 extra seasonal staff to work in stores as well as putting a further 1,000 head office staff on the shop floor to help cope with demand.

An extra 1,500 staff have been drafted into Debenhams warehouses, a 50% increase on last year, and 40% more drivers have been lined up for deliveries.

Richard Cristofoli, Debenhams marketing director, said: “Debenhams has traditionally always offered savings to customers on the last pay day before Christmas and the fact that there is now greater awareness of Black Friday as an event is a good opportunity as far as we are concerned.

”Black Friday is known for being an electrical led event and our customers want it to be that bit more fabulous. We’ve got our best offers of the season on fragrance and designer fashion.”

  • It's only a matter of time before Debenhams do a '100% off' Sale. But as they're a turnover based business, they'll be happy...
