Debenhams to axe John Rocha collaboration

Debenhams is axing John Rocha from its list of Designers at Debenhams, Drapers understands.

The future of other designers, including Jasper Conran and Jenny Packham, is not yet known.

Debenhams neither confirmed nor denied Rocha’s removal from the collaboration but said a new designer would be announced in the coming months.

A spokeswoman for the retailer said: “Debenhams introduced designer collaborations to the UK over 20 years ago and the concept continues to be an important part of the Debenhams offer. The Debenhams Redesigned strategy will see us constantly review partnerships in place as well as recruit fresh talent to bring newness into the offer.

“We expect to announce a new designer to our roster in spring and have no exits to announce at this stage.”

Drapers revealed the removal of Betty Jackson’s collection from Designers at Debenhams in December 2016, as well as the reduction of Jeff Banks’ menswear range to formal suits and shirts.

  • Well well overdue, served it's purpose but hasn't been relevant for years, ditto the whole "Designers as Debenhams"
