Department store Robbs of Hexham to close

Robbs of Hexham, part of department store group Owen Owen, will close on May 12, after administrators failed to find a buyer. It follows last week's decision to shut Owen Owen's Scottish store Esslemont & McIntosh. Meanwhile, only one party remains in negotiations for Owen Owen's other stores, Joplings in Sunderland and Lewis's in Liverpool. Until last week there were two bidders, one of which was understood to be department store group Allders. However, administrator Kroll said Lewis's and Joplings would also close on May 12 if a deal had not been reached.
