Diesel has appointed a former exec at luxury accessories giant Bulgari as its new global chief executive.
Alessandro Bogliolo, who will take up his new role at the denim brand on October 1, replaces Daniela Riccardi who left the business in March after three years in the role.
Bogliolo started his career as a consultant at Bain & Co before moving to work in the car industry. He then spent 16 years at Bulgari, where he held various roles, including chief operating officer. Last November Bogliolo joined beauty brand Sephora as North American chief operating officer.
Bogliolo said: “I always looked at Diesel as an international iconic brand, and as a company of extraordinary performances. I start in the year of the brand’s 35th anniversary, and to think that I might be able to contribute to shaping its next years and a new phase of its development is an incredible feeling.”
Diesel founder Renzo Rosso added: “After the appointment of Nicola Formichetti as artistic director of the brand early this year and the launch of the new marketing initiatives, such as the #DieselReboot campaign, this new arrival is the perfect next complement. Diesel is a premium international brand, and Alessandro’s background will only confirm and enhance this positioning and our ambitious plans of development.”
