Premium label Diesel Black Gold and MM6, the sister label of Maison Martin Margiela, have both signed leases to open stores on London’s Conduit Street.
Diesel Black Gold will open its first standalone store in the UK at 21 Conduit Street, a former Filofax shop, in the first half of 2014.
An undisclosed premium was paid to secure the lease on the privately owned property, which still has four years left on its lease.
MM6 has signed a 10 year lease for 6 Conduit Street from landlord The Crown Estate. The 1,300 sq ft store will also be the label’s first standalone outlet in the UK and will be situated close to Maison Martin Margiela’s only UK store in nearby Bruton Street.
Prime Retail advised both MM6 and Diesel Black Gold.
Richard Criss, a director at Prime Retail, said: “The quality of these brands and the intense competition for the lease assignment demonstrate that Conduit Street is very much an emerging location for luxury retail and is a credible alternative to more established pitches such as Bond Street. As more and more brands, like Dior and John Varvatos, opt to open on Conduit Street, we are likely to see a domino effect both here and on some of the smaller side streets.”
