Diesel Black Gold designer to leave the brand

Diesel is to end its collaboration with Greek womenswear designer Sophia Kokosalaki, with the women’s Diesel Black Gold spring 13 collection her final range for the denim brand.

Kokosalaki has been designing the Diesel Black Gold women’s line since June 2009 when she was drafted in to overhaul the premium collection.

Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel and president of the OTB (Only the Brave) Group, said thanks to Kokosalaki’s talent the brand now has a “clear identity” as a premium standalone label.

Her final collection will be shown during New York Fashion Week in September. A new womenswear designer will be announced in early October.

Kokosalaki said: “The last three years I have spent at Diesel Black Gold have been a very interesting and enjoyable experience. I would like to thank the whole DBG team for their hard work and support in helping me to establish this line.”
