Diesel has confirmed that Andreas Melbostad is to become creative director of womenswear for premium line Diesel Black Gold.
This follows on from reports in August linking Melbostaf was to the womenswear collection, although at the time Diesel refused to comment. He will unveil his first pre-fall 13 collection in December.
Melbostad has previously worked for fashion houses including Nichole Farhi, Yves Saint Laurent, Nina Ricci, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein, before becoming the creative director of designer label Phi.
Diesel Black Gold has plans for expansion with several new stores scheduled to open in 2013, after launching its first store in New York earlier this year.
The denim brand announced earlier this month that womenswear designer Sophia Kokosalaki would leave the label, with the women’s Diesel Black Gold spring 13 collection her final range.
Kokosalaki, who joined Diesel in June 2009, will bow out after her last collection with the brand is revealed at New York Fashion Week on September 11.
