Diesel to axe 55DSL line next year

Diesel is to axe its 55DSL label in 2015 as a result of the promotion of its current creative director Andrea Rosso.

Following the autumn 14 collection, 55DSL will no longer be produced as Russo will concentrate on managing the licences for all Diesel products including fashion, fragrances, watches and homewear.

In his new role Rosso will also work closely with Diesel’s artistic director Nicola Formichetti to develop new projects for the brand.

This year the 55DSL streetwear brand celebrates its 20th anniversary with a series of limited edition capsule collections in collaboration with Birkenstock, Los Angeles based art publisher Arkitip and San Francisco based artist Aaron De La Cruz, which will be sold in selected stores this spring.

  • Let's face it, if the typical consumer wants Diesel, he wants Diesel, not a sub label. It's not the same. A good decision has been made here.
