The designers behind the Dolce & Gabbana fashion label have been fined almost £300m for tax evasion.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been slapped with a €343.4m (£289.7m) fine by the Italian Tax Commission. This decision comes despite the pair making an appeal in November 2011.
The designers came under investigation and were charged with avoiding taxes of £351m following the sale of the Dolce & Gabbana and D&G brands in 2004.
After the ruling Gabbana tweeted: “To be accused of something untrue is not a beautiful thing. But in the end who cares, we will all finish up six feet under. I am interested in making clothes and that’s all. They can do and say what they want.”
