Don McCarthy steps down from Moss Bros board

Moss Bros non-executive director Don McCarthy has stepped down from his role at the menswear business.

McCarthy, who is chairman of department store business House of Fraser and an investor in Baugur, joined the Moss Bros board in May last year.

He joined along with former BDO Stoy Hayward partner Tony Bogod, as Moss Bros board members from Unity Investments, the Icelandic investment group with links to Baugur, which has stakes in a number of UK retailers, and had a stake in Moss Bros.

Baugur ditched plans for a £40m takeover of the menswear group in May this year.

Moss Bros reported a like-for-like sales drop 5.2% for the first 18 weeks of the second half of the year, earlier this month. The group warned that the challenging trading environment is likely to have a materially adverse impact on market expectations for the full year.
