Dormeuil launches online 3D cloth feature

Luxury worsted cloth merchant The House of Dormeuil is ramping up its digital business through the use of a bespoke 3D feature to better demonstrate its cloths online.

Dormeuil 3D Generator

Dormeuil 3D Generator

The 3D Generator, hosted on its site, enables buyers to visualise the cloth after it has been cut and sewn into a finished garment.

Each season, Dormeuil will use the feature to showcase 30 new fabric designs as a capsule collection, which can be viewed on a three-dimensional model. The model can be dressed in a suit or, alternatively, a sport jacket and trouser combination. Alongside the 3D model, the fabric’s full specifications are displayed.

The firm’s president, Dominic Dormeuil, explains: “Nowadays, the relevance of new technologies is undeniable. To constantly be at the forefront of innovation, we have launched a precursor system on our website that allows you to have a 3D vision of our fabric collection, as close as possible to the reality of a finished garment.”

  • Only problem is colour. Depending on contrast settings on your devices, you can be horribly disappointed if you buy online.

However it does show patterns scaled to the full garment, which is far better viewing than a swatch.
