Drapers Womenswear Special: spring 15 preview

Daphne Selfe, the model who at 86 years old has been gracing the cover of magazines for more than 60 years, is fronting Drapers’ spring 15 Womenswear Special this week.

“We decided to photograph Daphne for this issue because she perfectly represents the diversity of the womenswear market,” said Drapers fashion editor Graeme Moran.

“I wanted to remind buyers, and the wider industry, that there’s a way to buy into the season’s big brands, key trends and have fun with fashion, no matter who your customer is.”

Born in north London in 1928, Selfe balanced working as a model, dancer and film extra with married life and raising three children. Her career took off aged 70 and she has since worked with photographers such as Mario Testino, walked the catwalks of Paris and appeared in advertising campaigns for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana.

See the full photo shoot in our spring 15 Womenswear Special issue out on Friday, including looks from Aquascutum, Hauber and Bitte Kai Rand.
