British young fashion brand Duck and Cover has been sold to Original Brands for an undisclosed amount, Drapers can reveal.
Duck and Cover has been owned and run by chief executive Ashwin Shah for the last 22 years. He will maintain responsibility for delivering the remainder of the autumn 16 forward order collection, before leaving the business.
Original Brands, which is based on Chapel Street in Salford, Greater Manchester, also owns fast fashion labels Money and Born Rich.
Duck and Cover will be operated as an independent trading company through Greenbark, a business owned by Original Brands, which has a dedicated product design, customer service and sales team in Notting Hill, London.
It will deliver Duck and Cover’s spring 17 collection - which is already in production - and has taken over responsibility for its stock replenishment programme from this week. Samples for autumn 17 have been completed.
Drapers understands two Duck and Cover designers are moving across to Original Brands, but the remaining members of the team have been made redundant.
Shah said he has “complete confidence” in the senior team at Original Brands to take Duck and Cover forwards.
