Dune shifts upmarket with refit of top stores

Footwear retailer Dune is to roll out its London Covent Garden concept to its top 10 stores as it pushes its offer upmarket.

Dune managing director Daniel Rubin has raised prices by 10% to 15% in the past two seasons and will refit the shops in line with this. For example, the top court shoe price is now £95.

Rubin said stores at the top of the list would be in prime locations. "There is a gap at the premium end of the market. We want our top stores to take elements of the Covent Garden store, which is beating sales targets by 20%," he said.

Dune is expected to open five stores this year and is close to signing a site in London's West End. Another will open next March at Canary Wharf in London, using the new storefit, which includes glass, timber and limestone.
