Danish footwear brand Ecco relaunched its Oxford Street flagship this week and is gearing up for new openings across the UK.
The 1,830 sq ft store at 445 Oxford Street is designed with clean lines to reflect Ecco’s Danish roots. It is divided into zones to accommodate different categories, such as golf and outdoor, and includes a section for leathergoods.
Ecco has doubled its number of shops in the UK to 42 in the last three years, including seven outlets. It has concessions in four Beales department stores and is in talks to go into House of Fraser.
Shops in Newcastle’s Metrocentre, Manchester, Bromley and Leeds will open between July and September this year and a further wave of openings is expected after that.
Ecco’s UK managing director David Butler explained that the exact number of new shops to be opened in 2015 would “depend on the commercial opportunities”, but said “several” are in the pipeline.
“Our increasing sales activities in the UK are an important contributor to our global growth strategy and we are tightly focused on our wholly owned retail cluster strategy in the UK and across Europe”, he added.
The brand would not disclose the number of wholesale stockists it has in the UK.
