Online marketplace Loubilou to support kidwear indies and designers

An online marketpalce dedicated to children’s indies is being launched across Europe this summer.

Loubilou.com, the brainchild of designer Heath Kane, will offer a platform for independent retailers across kidswear, accessories, toys and gifts.

Sellers will be able to create a storefront that will help them reach a larger audience.

Kane, the former creative director of communications agency Sapient, said he came up with the idea after becoming frustrated by limited choice of kids clothing available on the high street.

He said: “I struggled to find anything inspiring to buy online for my nephews and nieces. However it became apparent that there was a bigger issue that Loubilou could solve, when we started to see children whereever we travelled dressing like department store clones.

“In today’s market it’s tough for small businesses to create a voice in a sector that is dominated by major high-street brands.”

Loubilou is open to any indies or designers that fit the marketplace’s critera of “high quality, unique and independent”.

Kane added: “We are currently building our inventory and are looking to be able to curate the site to showcase the best of what Loubilou has on offer.”

It intends to take 10% commission in return for sellers setting up a store front on the marketplace and, in return, will focus on driving traffic to the site and promote its sellers through PR and marketing.

Loubilou is already being trialled in Autralia and hope to roll out across Europe during the summer.
